Tips and tricks
We will slowly add to this page as we get time to form a database of common repair solutions and tips to get you out of trouble.
Amplifiers.
No sound - is the power light on? - if no check plug screws, fuse, extension lead, etc.
- if yes use the FX send/return or power amp in/ pre out sockets to determine if the fault lies with the pre or power amp.
To do that take a signal from "pre out or send" to another power amp, or put a signal to the "power amp in".- if any of these work try linking the fx send and return jacks with an instrument cable and go back to normal operation, if this works then the fault is with those jacks, not the amps.
Try a different speaker, or speaker lead.
Try a different input source.
Is there any hiss from the speakers when you turn it up? if yes then the power amp and speaker are probably ok.
Keyboards.
Some notes not sounding - Many keyboards use carbon coated rubber contacts to form switches which tell the processor which key was pressed and at what velocity. Generally speaking these rubber contacts are prone to wear and susceptible to dust and dirt, if the switches on a key are not functioning properly the symptoms are either no sound at all or playing at full velocity for each faulty key, if this occurs the contacts should be cleaned in an emergency or ideally replaced.
If the notes not sounding are in a repeated pattern, then the mating PCB should be replaced.
